MAPLE WOOD FLOORING
Metro Hardwood Floors carries a large selection of regular and wide plank Maple hardwood and Maple laminate flooring in a variety of pre-finishes and styles, including character grade. Character grade styles have more color variations from board to board and contain sound, filled knots, and natural mineral streaks. This grade lends itself to a more casual look than the traditional clean lines of premium Maple flooring.
Maple Hardwood Hardness Rating
Hard Maple, or Sugar Maple as it’s more specifically known, has a Janka hardness rating of 1450, while Red Maple stands at 950 and Silver Maple at 700. Most domestic hardwood floors are made of Hard Maple, which is harder than many domestic hardwoods. While not quite as hard as Hickory, Hard Maple is harder than Bamboo, Oak, Ash, Teak, Walnut, Cherry, and Mahogany.
Maple Wood Countries of Origin
Maple hardwood is a predominantly local product. While most of the approximately 128 species of Maple are native to Asia, there are 13 species in North America and 10 of those grow in Canada. The Hard Maple is grown as far south as Georgia and Texas but is more common in forests throughout mid-eastern Canada from Nova Scotia to Ontario.
